Time to Embrace the Hipsters..

Incidentally, the American Apparel store and the Urban Outfitters in Vancouver are a half-block within each other, which makes shopping down Granville Street fun. Where else can you compare the hipster employees of UO and AA in one hour? (Okay, admittedly, the shopgirls/boys here are barely hipsters they're nice, but bear with me here)

Moving along, Urban Outfitters have disappointed me lately. Paltry sales racks, overpriced jeans, yada yada. The mens section however, is another story.

Feeding my very slight obssesion with stripes of late, it brings to mind Trovata's Fall 07 collection. Slightly Harry Potter, and slightly prep-school. You could probably work them into something resembling the (IMO) overrated Balenciaga collection. Yum. Love crew-necks.

And since you can't mention just one hipster store without the other, let's add some American Apparel, just for good measure.

More stripes. Damn it.

Stomp the Yard

If there's just one thing I want for fall, it's a pair of Doc Martens. There's the classic, knee-high style, but I'm looking at some of the jazzed-up pairs they have. There's floral-prints, embroidered (as above), and a huge selection of different colours. Goth Girl, combat boots are not just for you now.

Harper's Makes You Think

Jezebel has their own take on this (very odd) image from Harper's Bazaar, but I think of 20's suffragette when I see this. I think it might be the cloche hat and the fitted tankdress that does it. But the bruise! Fighting for women's rights, wearing indecently short dresses, it could land a girl locked up and bruisin' yes?

Love is a four letter word

Sadly, the time has come to change out of my beloved wedges and flip flops. It's (almost) time to ready for a new school year, and that can only mean one thing: back-to-school shopping!

I love autumnal shades: fall leaves, herringbone and tweed. And the Gap flats have stolen my heart with their perfect shape (identical to the Aldo ones I was nattering on about - but more perfect!), and beautiful colours (burgundy, navy, tweed).
