To My Shame..

I went on a 2 hour bus ride to get to the new H&M store in Vancouver (well, in Coquitlam, which is why it took 2 hours). Things that I learned:
- the accessories are killer, and only about $7 CAN.
- the mens' section is so much better than the womens'
- H&M in New York has a million times more selection than here
I did leave with a beanie hat and a dress, which I'll pictures of at a later date.

Stopped by Old Navy as well, to check out the Fair Isle collection. All of my size was gone, which isn't the stores fault, but it made me really disappointed anyways. I tried on two sweaters anyways, and left with one; a white one with ice-cream specks (hard to describe, sorry).

Finally, to my complete chagrin. This fille on Face Hunter is wearing the object of my desire: skinny plaid pants. They've been on my fall to-buy list since early August, and I have yet to find a pair. Curses!

La Vie en Gris

Today was one of those days where you just want to cuddle up in your dad's sweater and make homemade popcorn with hot chocolate. I did just that, and read a great book called Labyrinth by Kate Mosse (yeah, I know). It's worth a flip through for sure.

Something else that's caught my mind lately is the Old Navy fair-isle collection. They're the perfect sweaters for school in riding boots, and for some decent cold-weather cheering up as well.

At fashion school you don't get teased for wearing braces. Only if you use vintage furniture fabric to make your clothes. I say, who cares when you've got the best dresses?

The show itself... there were 35 designers, and all of them were so good. But my favourites of the bunch:

Annie Wong and Jen Pohland. Jen's clothes had intricate beading and detail work, hence the 'world is my oyster' theme. Annie won Most Outstanding Collection.

This girl took traditional Korean costumes and translated it to modern clothing. The collection turned out too similar to actual Korean streetwear, but the idea was gold (as is my favourite dress in the entire show, above right).

Kids clothing. The kid 'models' were so cute! They were obviously nervous, and one boy even tripped while posing. Cuties for sure.

These two won Most Marketable Collection award. Love the themes and the collections. Leather, corseting and sleek styles for Taron. And bold colours and pretty pretty outfits in Nicole's.

Half the models wore fur wrist-muffs! Also love the top hat on the centre outfit.

Sustainability is kind of a big deal, so I'm glad it came up. And Janna Bishop used the most gold brocade and velvet. And had the best wave at the end.

Lastly, a Starbucks drive thru spotted on the way there. Never knew they existed.

Lipgloss is Poppin

God only knows how many black, patent leather flats I have, but it's time I make an exception (again..). These payless tap shoes are so perfect for everything. Peeking out under wideleg jeans or with a wool dress (Old Navy people!). And there's nothing better than clacking down the hallways to make a "look at me" statement.

For the streets: loose, high-waisted trousers, party dresses with jeweled belts, tucked-in brightly coloured blouses

Benetton Strikes Again

Inspired by Susie Bubble's post, reminds me of the fantastic (as always) ad campaign/catalogue Benetton has for this fall. It brings out the artsy girl in me, and brings back memories of my arts & crafts obssession a few years ago (still have not just a few unfinished scarves stuffed in my closet).

At any rate, the oversized, colorblocked turtleneck sweater is calling out to me. (First one in the picture, but go to the site for a better look) There are so many reasons why it's wrong for me, the biggest being that I'm a diminuitive person. Yet, there's a strange, irresistable pull; I have to have it.
After all, never say never right?

Wearing Today: Back to School

Appropriately it was raining for the first day of classes. I finally found a PVC jacket; they're perfect for the incessant rainy weather here. Also, love the texture and the pattern of the scarf.
